A Letter from Our President
I am Nancee Braddock, the new president of the Hospice Foundation for Jefferson Healthcare. As a registered nurse, I have worked in many settings, including with pediatric bone-marrow transplant teams, in nursing management, and in home care and hospice. On the personal side of my life, I also supported my mother during her six year journey of fighting breast cancer, including caring for her during her end-of-life journey with hospice.
I think a community is truly complete when it has a well-functioning and caring hospice program to support its members. The Hospice Foundation Board works closely with Hospice of Jefferson Healthcare to build and sustain these services. Our Hospice Foundation takes an approach to funding this care that starts by deeply valuing the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of each patient. The Foundation also aims to educate our community about end-of-life choices and the importance of our Hospice Program.
For us, as with so many groups, 2022 will be a year of continuing transformation. We have been flexible and inventive during the first painful years of the Covid pandemic. We are deeply thankful to our donors, volunteers, and friends who have contributed in multiple ways.
I am honored to contribute to the incredible work done by the foundation. Over the last two years we have been meeting via Zoom, and we now look forward to seeing each other in person and better connecting with our community. Our fundraising “Ask Letter” will be sent out this coming June and we will have our fundraising breakfast on October 6th at the Maritime Center. We look forward to your support in whatever role you select.
