The Shadow Box is a winner of a Tony Award for Best Play and a Pulitzer Prize. Three families face the terminal illnesses of loved ones with anger, humor, compassion, and courage. The New York Times describes the play as “Important, touching and courageous” and notes that “Christofer writes with the compassion of the undamned.”

Note: This play contains strong language and adult material. Complimentary wine will be served, and time for discussion will follow the performance. Hearing assistance devices will be available.

The Shadow Box is the 5th staged reading to be offered by Bare Bones Productions. Previous plays include Neil Simon’s Chapter 2, Arthur Miller’s The Price, Ivan Menschel’s The Cemetery Club, and Paul Osborne’s Mornings at Seven.

The Hospice Foundation for Jefferson Healthcare is the grateful recipient of proceeds from this play.

The Foundation was created in 2009 as a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization with an all-volunteer board of directors to ensure that Jefferson Healthcare Hospice will continue to serve the community for years to come. Its mission is to fund hospice services and programs not covered by Medicare or other insurance; including comfort care needs, respite care, bereavement and grief support, and educational events that promote community understanding of end of life care.

Annual Community Memorial Service

Save the Date!

October 26, 2017, at 5:30 PM, at

Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

2333 San Juan Ave., Port Townsend, WA 98368

Jefferson Healthcare Hospice will hold its Annual Community Memorial Service on October 26, 2017.  All community members throughout Jefferson County are invited to join with friends and family in this nondenominational service of remembering and honoring loved ones.

The service includes music, candle lighting, a program of responsive reading, poetry, reflections and sharing.  A memorial quilt, made by Cabin Fever Quilters, is a tradition in Hospice and will be displayed.  Family members and friends are encouraged to place a photo or momento on the quilt to honor and remember their loved one.

The quilt is used  as a symbol of hospice and represents the long held American traditions of home, family, community and caring all of which are hallmarks of hospice care.20141030_182353
